Recent Reads

I recently finished reading John Adams by David Mccullough.   I really enjoyed reading this book.   It did not read like a history book but like a story.  I could not stop reading about Adams.   I cannot say enough about this book.  John Adams is one of America's founding fathers and probably the one we most owe respect too.  He sacrificed his family and his life to fight for his countries liberty.  He and his family actually lived their lives like they preached.   They had no slaves and believed that slavery was very wrong.  They did pay the help that they had.  

I saw the HBO mini-series at my parents house and I really liked it.   I thought it did a good job of portraying the book.  Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney were perfectly cast as John and Abigail Adams.  

I am in the middle of reading Truman now.  He is a really interesting person.   I did not know much about him before.  I think he is one of the lest known about presidents.   Well to me anyway.  It is a long book so it will take me awhile.

While I am on the subject of presidents I was reading a good book about President Lincoln called  Lincoln's Melancholy.  It seeks to determine the path to his depression.  More than a history it is like a clinical examination.   my friend tells me that I am weird to enjoy reading books like these.  :()
